Having a great photographer to capture those incredible moments at your wedding is key to making your magical day last throughout the years. The wedding photos are important because they help you remember that special day and you will do just about aynything to make those photos absolutely perfect. However, not every photographer out there has the integrity needed to intrust them with your memories.

Dispite having a contract, there are some photographers that just don't care or full fill their part of the agreement. The sad part, it leaves a bad impression on the day that is supposed to live on through those photos for all eternity.

Now here is what you can do to avoid being taken forgranted by these types of photographers:

Be Informed

When interviewing for a photographer have at least 3 - 4 photographers you are going to look at. Remember this is an interview think of this person as a future employee and make sure to develop a rapour with this person. Ask for a resume, portofolio as well as references from at least 3-4 clients and 3 professional based ones. A good photographer will have testimonials as well as letters of recommedation you can look at within their portfolio.

Test Run

A good practice to make a part of the interview process is to ask for a test shoot. This will give these potential photographers a chance to show you their work. Besides if these photographers are successful in winning your business there is a 90% chance you will hire them again to do future special moments such as birth of a baby, anniversary, birthdays or even referrals. Take a look at their technique, direction and how they capture the moment. This will give you an idea what to expect on your special. If photographer refuses to do that, then move onto the next. Believe it or not photographers are a dime a dozen and they know this, so they will work extra hard to get your business

Backup Plan

Always always always have a backup plan. Photographers are not going to get every moment so ask you guests to take part in capturing the moment. Some ideas are:

  • Disposable Cameras: yes these cameras still exist. You can order these delightful items online and have your guests take photos from their perspective. Make it a game by doing a scavenger hunt and have different lists on each table. When the wedding is done, simply get the photos developed placed onto a CD and there you have it.

  • Smartphones: Come on, people are going to be taking pictures with their smart phones might as well use them for it. www.wedpics.com is a great site to use to get an app that guests can download onto their phones. They take a picture, put a caption and upload it to the wedpics site. when the wedding is over all you do is download the images.

Your wedding is supposed to be the best day of your life and you want that moment captured in the perfect way possible. So do your research, test out your talent and always have a backup. Not sure where to start, give us a call we can help you find the perfect way to capture that amazing day.
