Long gone are the days that the classic guestbook being used to record well wishes to the couple. In the last few decades wedding couples have found creative ways to record and showcase the well wishes from their guest. From the signning of the white matte around a picture of the couple to the thumbprint from each guest on a tree or balloons, these ideas are fun and easy to do with barely any added costs.
Why is it so important to record these well wishes? The obvious reason is for the memory, but perhaps this tradition is mostly for the guests as a way to give something personal to the newlyweds. In different cultures, guests find ways to honour the couple, may it be through gifts or money or even a card, guests are an important part of a wedding and deserve to shine individually.
Here are some ideas to help you in creating a way for your guests to record their well wishes for you:
1) Photobooth - Crazy as it sounds, having an album of photobooth photos of guests dressing up in silly props leaves for fun loving flash backs for the couple.
Can't afford to hire a photobooth, create your own! All you need are the following:
- Polariod Cameras
- Scrapbook pages
- Fun props
- Black/White/ or any solid colour Back drop
- Tape/Glue dots, used to attach the photos to the scrapbook
- Scrapbook supplies for guests to personalize their page
- markers, pens crayons etc
- Box to put the completed scrapbook page, or have the guest place the pages themselves in the scrapbook.
Take your props and place them into a bin or "chest" and postion a table for these items to the side, may it be by the dance floor or when the guests enter, this fun and creative idea will give your guests something fun to do during cocktail hour or during the dancing portion. Most importantly it will leave you with a great album to cherish. It would be a good idea to have a member of the bridal party check up on this table throughout the night to make sure everything is running smoothly

2) Quilt - This one is a bit elaborate but can be fun as well! All you will need are different coloured patches of fabric, fabric markers and some sewing supplies. You can do this idea one of two ways, either have your guests create a fabric square and then you assembly the quilt afterwards or have a quilt already on a table with blank squares for people to write on. At the end of the night, whatever squares are left blank, the bridal party and the couple can fill in the empty squares with memorable moments. Best yet, have memorable sayings from the night written on the quilt.

3) Birthday/Special Date Calendar - Here is an idea that is simple, creative and personal. Guest have the option of taking a calendar and signing on their birthday or any special day. To have it connected to the wedding couple, have that calendar also display anniversaries or birthdays for the couple. One of our clients decided to have a calendar that was used for guests to sign on their birthdays/special days, it also displayed memorable days for the couple, such as the first date, first time they said I love you, even when the proposal occured. Having a calendar like this allows each guest to put a stamp on time and relate directly to the couple
As you can see there are a number of great ideas that can be used to help you create a great guestbook idea that will be unique to your wedding and help you keep your memories alive.
